This is a great game, both singleplayer and multiplayer. I like playing on TF2 maps in it to find places and it's also quite fun putting NPCs in them. Multiplayer is even better, lots of great game modes and not as many mingebags, unless there's no admin. You really need to get it if you don't!

Could someone explain (in very simple terms) what Gary's mod actually is?

Yeh, It's basically a sandbox. You can build things from the props in Source games you own; planes, cars, boats, forts and lots more. You can do model posing for funny photos etc. The possiblities are endless to a certain extent. There are lots of maps, and game modes include: Sanbox(general building), Roleplay(live out a life, get a job etc), Team Forts (i think it's called that, make forts and the team who hold the ball for a certain amount of time wins) plus more.

In Garry's mod you get all the bricks/props of what ever source games you have got and build things with them on a designated map. As well as all the props you have a tooolbar menu allowing you to build wheels,thrusters,turrets and hover-balls onto your props there are also much more but i cant be bothered . As well as your props you also get ragdolls,vehicles and NPCS as well as other crazy stuff. The vehicles are the same as in HL2 e.g. the standard ones are jalopy,jeep and airboat. The ragdolls are a charector with no support almost like a corpse except using these you can make the body parts go in different places to make things (like alyx slapping barney) also you can modify their faces making them look happy,sad,angry and more. The npcs are charectors/allies/enimies in your games e.g. you can spawn a mass of combine andrun back and make a car run them all over while they are firing at you with a gun you can easily give them.
